8.2 Cosine Law (sides)

When to use the cosine law:

1) When you are given two sides and a contained angle of an acute triangle and you want to solve for the third side

2) When you are given all three side lengths of an acute triangle and you want to solve for an angle measure

      Ontario Curriculum

Overall Expectations:

• solve problems involving acute triangles, using the sine law and the cosine law.

Specific Expectations:

- explore the development of the cosine law within acute triangles
- determine the measures of sides and angles in acute triangles, using the sine law and the cosine law
